Sarah Lonsert’s “Dancing Through Life” Named January “Best Song Of The Month”
Sarah Lonsert, a promising, young pop singer/songwriter based in Orange County, CA, has won the SongwriterUniverse ‘Best Song Of The Month’ Contest for January, for her song ‘Dancing Through Life’ (co-written by Jonathan George, Jami Templeton & G’harah “PK” Degeddingseze). Lonsert will be independently releasing her debut album, Dreams And Poetry, this February (2010).
‘Dancing Through Life’ is a well-crafted, contemporary dance/pop song which has a hooky chorus melody and pulsing dance track. Interestingly, what makes this song truly stand out is its positive, uplifting lyric message. The lyric (as indicated by its title) has a joyful, celebrative theme that resonates beyond its dancefloor groove. This song was skillfully produced by Anthony Mazza, who is known for recording and touring with Christina Aguilera and other major artists.
Lonsert, who is only 17, was both in Anaheim, CA, and she got into music at a young age. Notably, she was inspired to learn and develop her music due to being diagnosed as autistic. ‘I got into music because I was autistic,’ explained Lonsert. ‘When I was young I would throw temper tantrums, but I learned to channel my emotions into my music. I’m still autistic, but [my condition has improved] due to five years of therapy, and developing my music.’
When she was 15, Lonsert had a breakthrough when she attended the Camp Electric Youth music & performance camp run by Deborah Gibson (former teen star & platinum artist). ‘It was great attending this camp and learning about performing, and connecting with an audience,’ said Lonsert. ‘Deborah taught me how to write songs, and she produced some of my demos. I also wrote two songs with her.’
During the past two years, Lonsert has written many songs, and she is completing her debut album, Dreams And Poetry. The album is being produced by Anthony Mazza, and features several songs co-written with Jonathan George.
One of her favorite songs remains ‘Dancing Through Life.’ ‘I wanted this song to have a positive philosophy, to say that life can be fun, even if someone is going through some difficult times,’ she said. Impressively, ‘Dancing Through Life’ recently was the grand prize winner in the USA Songwriting Competition, and Lonsert was named Singer/Songwriter Of The Year at the L.A. Music Awards.
Lonsert will be promoting her new album with a show at the Roxy club in L.A. plus shows in Arizona, and in Southern California.
